Open Marketing, then the Promo codes tab. A promo code is a discount defined in advance. Customers type the code at checkout, and it follows the same rules and the same arithmetic as a discount at the counter.

You need Apply a discount.

The list

Each code shows:

  • Code and its name.
  • Discount: a percentage off, or an amount off.
  • Valid: from when until when, or Any time.
  • Used: how many times, against its maximum if it has one.
  • Status: Live, Off, Not started, Expired or Fully used.

Edit changes a code's name, dates and limits. Switch off stops a code working at checkout; orders already discounted keep it. Switch on brings it back.

Create a code

Press New code:

  • Code (required). Letters, numbers and dashes, such as LAUNCH20. Case does not matter.
  • Name: for you; customers see the code. For example "Launch week".
  • Percentage off or Amount off each line:
    • Percent: between 1 and 99. A 100% discount is a giveaway, which has its own path: see New sale.
    • Amount: taken off each ticket or table line.
  • Only for: one event, or leave it as Any event to make it work at your whole venue.
  • Starts: leave it blank for the code to work straight away.
  • Ends: leave it blank for no end. Times are in your venue's timezone.
  • Max uses: leave it blank for unlimited.
  • Per customer: the most times one customer can use it. Leave it blank for unlimited.

Press Create code. It works at checkout the moment it is created.

The code, the discount and the event cannot be changed once created, because every use records them. Its name, dates and limits can, with Edit. To change the rest, switch the code off and create a new one.

An order that used a code shows the discount on each line of its order page.
