If you sell tickets for a club or beach club in Spain, you probably know Xceed. It is one of the best-known apps for finding a night out, it lists venues across Europe, and it also sells software for venues to run their own tickets, guest lists and tables.

So it is a fair question: if Xceed already does tickets, why look at Floorful?

The honest answer is that they do different jobs, and many venues will want both. This page sets out what each one is for, what each costs, and where the money ends up, worked out on one real night.

Two different jobs

Xceed is a marketplace first. People download the app to find something to do tonight, and your events appear alongside everyone else's. That is its biggest strength: according to Xceed, it can put your events in front of more than five million people through its app, newsletters and partners.

Floorful is your own sales system. There is no app full of buyers. Your guests buy on your own branded pages, from links you share, your promoters, your website and your emails. It is built to sell your tickets and tables, run your door, and keep your customer list yours.

So the question is not really "which is better". It is "do you need to be discovered, or do you need to sell well to the people who already know you?" Most established venues need some of each.

When you get paid

This is the biggest practical difference.

With Floorful, every payment goes directly into your venue's own Stripe account the moment the customer pays. If you put your biggest August night on sale in May, the money from May's sales is in your account in May. Stripe then pays it out to your bank on your own account's schedule.

Xceed's help centre explains that it acts as an intermediary, and that organisers are paid every Tuesday for the events that finished the week before. So for that August night, the money from three months of sales arrives after the event.

For a venue paying artists, staff and stock ahead of a big season, that is a real difference in cash flow.

What one night costs, worked out

Take one busy Saturday:

  • 400 tickets at €20, bought in 200 orders of two;
  • 15 VIP tables at €500.

To compare like with like, we keep the price to the guest the same on both. Xceed's own example on its pricing page shows a fee of £1.60 on a £20 ticket, about 8%, paid by the guest. So the guest pays €1.60 per ticket in both cases. With Floorful, €1 of that is our fee and the other €0.60 is your own booking fee, which you keep.

Tickets

Floorful Xceed
The guests pay €8,640 €8,640
Platform fee €400 €640
Card processing, paid by the venue about €180 included
The venue keeps about €8,060 €8,000

On tickets alone, it is roughly even. Floorful's lower fee is mostly used up by Stripe's processing fee, which Xceed includes in its own.

Tables

This is where the numbers move. Floorful's fee on a €500 table is €5. If a table were charged at the same 8% as Xceed's ticket example, the fee would be €40. We could not confirm how Xceed charges tables, so treat this line as a question to ask them:

Per €500 table, same guest price of €540 Floorful Xceed, if charged like tickets
Platform fee €5 €40
Card processing, paid by the venue about €8 included
The venue keeps about €527 €500

Over 15 tables, that is around €400 more for the venue in one night, on top of the tickets.

Or keep it cheaper for the guest

You do not have to add your own fee. Without one, the guest pays €1 on a €20 ticket and €5 on a €500 table, instead of €1.60 and possibly €40. Your venue then pays the card processing, about €290 for that night. Some venues prefer that: a lower booking fee at checkout means fewer people giving up at the last step.

The subscription

Floorful costs €99 a month. Xceed Pro, the plan with floor plans, costs €44 to €59 a month. So Floorful costs €40 to €55 a month more. In the example above, one busy night with tables covers that several times over. A small venue selling a few cheap tickets a week would not see the same.

Where Xceed is the better choice

We would rather you pick the right tool. Xceed is likely to suit you better if:

  • you need to be discovered. If people do not know your nights yet, an app full of people looking for something to do is worth a lot;
  • you sell mostly low-priced tickets. On a €10 ticket, a percentage fee can cost the guest less than our €1;
  • you want to start with no monthly fee, on Xceed's free plan;
  • you mainly run guest lists and free entry, which Xceed does not charge for on its own plans.

Where Floorful is the better choice

Floorful is likely to suit you better if:

  • you sell VIP tables, where a fixed €5 fee per booking makes a real difference;
  • you want your money as customers pay, not the week after the event;
  • you want your own booking fee to go to your venue;
  • you already have a following and want your regulars buying from you directly, not through an app that also shows them every other night in town;
  • you want table deposits, balances, minimum spends, party sizes, memberships and promoter teams built around how clubs actually run.

Using both

Plenty of venues will. A sensible split:

  • list on Xceed to reach people who have never heard of you;
  • sell to everyone else through Floorful: your website, your promoters' links, your social media, your emails to past guests, and every table booking.

Over time, the guests you meet through Xceed become regulars who buy from you directly. That is the point of having your own customer list. We explain more in Who owns your customers?

Built by an operator

Floorful was founded by Thomas Barrie after eight years in technology at Social Club and House of Son Amar in Mallorca, working on ticketing, VIP tables, the door, point of sale and marketing on real nights. You work directly with him from setup to your first nights.

We are currently taking on a small number of founding venues, which pay no subscription for their first 12 months, only the booking fees guests pay. You can read about it in our launch announcement.

If you want to see how it works with your own venue, start a free trial.
